INTRODUCTION

The Skill Development Centre (SDC) at Central University of Andhra Pradesh is a hub of innovation and learning, dedicated to providing transformative skill training and education for students, faculty, staff, and community members. Established with the vision to bridge the gap between academic education and industry expectations, the SDC serves as a gateway to career advancement, entrepreneurship, and personal development.

By integrating traditional academic learning with hands-on, practical skill development, the SDC empowers individuals to navigate the rapidly evolving job market with confidence. Our programs are meticulously designed to align with current industry standards, ensuring that our participants gain relevant skills and knowledge that enhance employability and entrepreneurial potential. The SDC plays a vital role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development at the university, serving as a key component of the institution’s broader mission to create well-rounded, highly skilled individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to society.

OBJECTIVES

Primary Goal: To enhance employability and entrepreneurial capabilities by providing skill training that meets industry standards and community needs.
Target Audience: Students, faculty, staff, and external participants from the community.

PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

Skill Development Workshops: The SDC regularly organised workshops on tailoring and beautician skills, in partnership with the local Jan Sikshan Sansthan, to ensure hands-on learning experiences for students and community members.
Certification Programs: University conducted certification course on “Local Tour Guiding” in collaboration with Sri Krishna Devaraya University and Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority for about 30 students. Assistant Dress Maker and Beauty and Wellness training and certification was provided for the students, staff and community members in collaboration with Jan Sikshan Sansthan.
Industry Tie-ups: The SDC works closely with Jan Sikshan Sansthan - Ananthapuramu, Ramoji Film City, Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority, and other industry leaders to offer valuable internships, training programs, and practical experiences.
Academic Partnerships:The university collaborates with other educational institutions for joint skill development programs, enhancing the scope and quality of training.

RESOURCES AND FACILITIES

Infrastructure: The SDC offers state-of-the-art facilities, including dedicated labs, machinery and fully equipped classrooms for skill training.
Faculty and Trainers: The cell is supported by experienced faculty members and industry professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the training programs.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Event Calendar: The university is planning to launch new skill development training programs for the academic year 2024-25. These will include training in areas such as Data Analysis, Animation and Multimedia Designing, Digital Marketing, Fashion Designing, Beauty and Wellness, Baking and Confectionaries, Bio Fertilizers, and Assistant Medical Lab Technician courses.
