It is a privilege and a responsibility to serve as the In-charge Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Andhra Pradesh at an important stage in its growth. A university is more than a place of teaching and learning. It is a community of knowledge, inquiry, innovation and human development. Our endeavour is to strengthen an academic environment where excellence in teaching, meaningful research, innovation, ethical leadership and social responsibility come together.

Higher education is undergoing rapid transformation. Artificial Intelligence, digital technologies, climate change, geopolitical developments and changing societal needs are redefining the ways in which knowledge is created, shared and applied. Universities must therefore remain responsive, innovative and future-ready while preserving the fundamental values of academic integrity, human dignity and intellectual freedom. Our immediate priority is to ensure institutional continuity, academic stability, effective governance and a supportive environment for teaching, research and student development. We will continue to strengthen systems and initiatives that contribute to the University’s academic and institutional progress.

Students remain at the heart of our mission. We seek to provide them with strong disciplinary foundations along with critical thinking, creativity, communication, digital competence, research skills, ethical reasoning and problem-solving abilities. Our objective is to prepare graduates not only for emerging professional opportunities but also for responsible citizenship and meaningful contribution to society. Research will remain central to the University’s development. We will encourage high-quality, interdisciplinary and socially relevant research, along with collaboration with national and international institutions. Our research should address contemporary challenges and contribute to public policy, sustainable development, technological advancement, social inclusion and the larger public good.

At the same time, we will continue to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, collegiality and mutual respect. The progress of a university is a collective endeavor and every member of the University faculty, researchers, officers, staff and students has an important role in building a culture of excellence. The University must also remain connected to the society and region in which it is situated. By strengthening engagement with government, industry, communities, civil society and academic institutions, we can contribute more effectively to regional and national development while expanding our national and global academic partnerships.

As we move forward, our focus will be on building a university that is academically strong, research-oriented, student- centred, socially responsive and globally connected. Our aspiration is not merely to grow in size, but to grow in quality, relevance and impact. I invite all members of the Central University of Andhra Pradesh community to contribute to this shared endeavour with commitment, academic excellence, integrity and a spirit of cooperation.
