Introduction to the Programme
The M.Sc. in Genomic Science is a postgraduate programme is designed to prepare students for career and research in genomics and allied life sciences. This interdisciplinary programme integrates molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, and biotechnology to provide a holistic understanding of genome organization and function. It focuses on theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on training in advanced laboratory and computational techniques. The curriculum is in alignment with NEP 2020 and designed to foster research aptitude, analytical thinking, and ethical responsibility. It emphasizes problem-solving, innovation, and application-based learning. Core courses and electives together prepare students for national-level competitive exams like CSIR NET, ICMR, GATE, UGC SET/SLET Exams. The programme also enables students to pursue research and careers in academic, pharmaceutical, and healthcare sectors. With an emphasis on in silico biology, molecular genetics, and systems biology, graduates develop the skill required to handle complex datasets. The interdisciplinary design ensures exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and data-driven approaches in biology. The programme nurtures intellectual curiosity, professional competence, and lifelong learning skills.
